    MARUHANICHIRO

    Maruha Nichiro Holdings is born

    Maruha, with its superior capacity in procuring seafood products, and Nichiro, whose strength lies in the development and sales of processed foods, joined forces in a merger to seek growth in the world's food market.

The Great East Japan Earthquake

    MARUHANICHIRO

    The Ishinomaki Factory began operations in 1946 and became a main factory for the frozen food business, but was significantly damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake. Other factories also closed.

    MARUHANICHIRO

    The present-day management system begins with the launch of the Maruha Nichiro Corporation.

    MARUHANICHIRO

    The reconstructed Ishinomaki Factory begins operations

    The Ishinomaki Factory suffered a lot of damage in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, and was considered for relocation in the aftermath. However, it was reconstructed near the original site due to the support the city and its people had given the company for over fifty years. The wish to contribute to the local community and its reconstruction through employment, helped with the regeneration of the area. Upon opening, it re-launched production as the key factory for the frozen food business.

    The new medium-term management plan Innovation toward 2021

    A dedicated goal of establishing the Maruha Nichiro brand as an integrated food company that produces and sells seafood products and processed foods on a global scale.
