Maruha Nichiro will become Umios Corporation on March 1, 2026

Maruha Nichiro Corporation resolved at its Board of Directors meeting today to change the company name to Umios Corporation, subject to the approval of a partial amendment to the Articles of Incorporation to be presented at the Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders scheduled for late June 2025.
The new company name reflects our commitment to solving global social issues through food, starting from the origins of our Group, the ocean [UMI]. It embodies our commitment to being [One] with stakeholders, society and the planet, determined to provide [Solutions].
The current Maruha Nichiro Group was formed from Japan’s pioneer fishing companies Maruha, founded in 1880, and Nichiro, founded in 1907, which together laid the laid the foundation for the modern fisheries and seafood processing industry. The companies merged in 2007 to leverage their strengths procuring marine resources and developing food products, becoming the Maruha Nichiro Group and establishing a solid foundation as a comprehensive food provider.
From the first founding as a fishing industry pioneer 145 years ago, the creation of the Maruha Nichiro Group in 2007 marked a second founding, and our new name of Umios Corporation marks our third founding.
Umios is our new beginning for the next 100 years as a “visionary company that provides solutions to promote the health of people and the planet through food.”
We believe our corporate value will increase by maximizing both our economic value and our environmental and social value. We will use our fundamental strengths in resource procurement, processing technologies, and food product supply to create a “value cycle” linking our businesses and functions in a ‘glocal’ manner. The Group will also create unique added value through its mid- to long-term mission to “provide sustainable protein” and “create health value” to contribute even more to the health of people and the planet.

3. New logo
The new logo embodies the concept of Earth as a blue planet composed primarily of water. The image illustrates our profound respect for the ocean, which is the origin of life. The blue parts of the logo represent the ocean, while the white represents our new areas of expansion.
4. New Purpose and Mission Statements
We have redefined the Maruha Nichiro Group’s corporate Purpose and Mission to clearly state why we exist and what we aim to accomplish.
