Maruha Nichiro to Acquire Shares in Tuna Processing Company Maruha Nichiro Group's Tuna Business to be Further Expanded

Maruha Nichiro Corporation (Maruha Nichiro) has agreed and signed a contract to acquire shares of Marine Access Corporation (Marine Access) from NIPPON ACCESS, INC (NIPPON ACCESS). Following this acquisition, Marine Access will become a member of the Maruha Nichiro Group (MN Group).

1. About Maruha Nichiro Group

   MN Group works on handling a diverse range of marine products based on a highly consistent business strategy from raw materials sourcing to finished products sales, comprehensively, which is initiated by MN Group’s target to "expansion of the marine products business value chain in Japan and overseas" as one of its growth initiatives set forth in the current Medium Term Management Plan.
   Among these, tuna is one of the most important products, as MN Group possesses integral functions, that is, fishing, aquaculture, procurement, processing and sales channels. MN Group has a wide range of product lineups with natural and cultured, fresh and frozen, primary and highly processed (negitoro, etc.).

2. Purpose of the Share Transfer

   Headquartered in Shizuoka Prefecture, tuna is the core business for Marine Access while engaging in an integral operations of marine products including procurement, processing (sashimi, negitoro, etc.), frozen storage (ultra-low temperature), and finished products sales. Through this acquisition of shares, Maruha Nichiro aims to further expand MN Group's tuna business and provide even better services to our esteemed customers.
