Responsibility to local communities, employees, customers, and business partners
Our food processing bases have Food Safety Management System (FSMS) certifications, which set the international standard for food safety management. Only the highest levels of food defense, based on the most scrutinized standards, are acceptable at our food processing plants. Frozen vegetables are no exception: our quality management system, Career Control System (CCS), oversees the entire process—from cultivation, to processing, to shipping.
Kingfisher is a frozen seafood, canned food, and canning company—and a member of Maruha Nichiro Group. Their sustainable supply chains work to eradicate human rights abuses and IUU fishing at every level. This means Kingfisher obtains the Marine Catch Purchasing Document (MCPD) for every single raw material they handle. They’ve joined the NPO, SEDEX, to openly share data, and the Seafood Task Force to ensure human wellbeing is a prerequisite for doing business.
We regularly hold human rights awareness seminars to deepen our understanding issues.
At Peter Pan Seafoods (U.S.A.), we provide free sockeye salmon lunch for students and create unique menus with fisherman. All salmon is caught at the Bristol Channel.
Since 1953, the Maruha Nichiro Nebuta Society has participated in the Aomori Nebuta Festival, one of Japan’s Important Intangible Cultural Properties.
